Hi Wendy
Welcome to this friendly forum.
Has this just problem just started or was it like this as soon as you installed the update, was the previous version OK?
Have you tried resetting the InDesign preferences back to the factory defaults?

Thanks Derek. The previous version was fine. I'm loathe to reset as everything else appears to be working well - as ever. I seldom have issues.
I'm on OS 15.3. I have a 365 Personal account, full Adobe CC.
I'm not a regular forum user so apologies at the venting.
Wondering if it's a keyboard issue - will try swapping. Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, we are not mind readers nor have access to your computer - we need more info - what platform, OS and InDesign versions?
If you are on Windows 11 - please check those threads:
You'll have to do a repair of the latest system update - or do a rollback.

Did I see you only have 8GB of RAM, if so, that's the issues. You need at least 16GB, preferably more.

Just to make sure: are they moving left or right? What is the scenario of the object move: by mouse, or keyboard only, or both, or something else?
Also, as @Derek Cross has already mentioned, 8 GB RAM can be insufficient for efficient InDesign operations (it's barely enough to keep it afloat).

Moving left/right with no issue. No time lag on any other operation, just up/down
I'm using keyboard
I've had no issues with RAM until now, use InDesign almost daily. Is this a requirement of the update?

Low RAM isn't necessarily responsible for the issue we discuss here (it's most likely not). 8 GB is the official supported minimum for InDesign (which means "you can try but good luck with that"), with 16 GB minimum recommended (which means "you can certainly get something done with that, but don't expect any kind of exciting performance").
In general, 8 GB is hardly enough to even run the operating system efficiently these days. However, if you're satisfied with your InDesign and other apps' performance under 8 GB RAM, then that's what's most important. You can eventually run into low memory issues though.
Do you have any issues with the up/down arrow keys in any other app?
