Old ID files in CC

I have old ID4 files that i need to update. Will they open in CC? I'm currently using Big Sur on a Mac Mini. Thanks!

Have you tried opening them? If so, what happens?

No, i don't have CC on my computer and i don't want to install CC unless it will open my old ID files.

It will. I just tested with an InDesign 6.0 file. That is CS4.

Yes. Older ID files can be opened in newer versions of ID.

The trickier issue is opening CC files in older versions of ID.

Thank you John. Since my older version of ID isn't compatible with my current OS, i won't have any reason to open CC files exdept in CC.
