On mac, how to recover a txt backup file from Indesign recovery folder?

Hello

I just lost a big job after copy/pasting a text from word that contained a footnote...

I had never recorded the project. I do have a file in the /Indesignrecovery folder

but it's a text file whose automatically assigned name is DBSharingShi  and then numbers;

I have a second file called "recovery data" and type InDesign® Recovery Data.

I saw that an app exists, INDDRECOVERY, to recover corrupted indesign files, but it only runs on windows.

Another similar app runs on Mac Design Repair by Stellar Phoenix but it is no longer up to date and does not run on the latest OS.

Does anyone have the beginnings of a solution?? Or can an old Mac OS or Design repair 1.5 run?

Thank you, thank you

What exactly do you mean by "lost?"

The data in the recovery files is generally not accessible except by InDesing itself to use for automatic recovery when you restart after a crash, and if that fails you're pretty much out of luck other than opening the last saved version and redoing the changes.

If the last savced version does not open, then the tools you mentioned may be of use on THAT file, but they don't work with the recovery data. Markzware has a paid recovery service that may be able to rebuild a corrupt .indd that would cast more to rebuild than the fee (which is substantial). https://markzware.com/products/file-recovery-service/

Adobe also has (or at least had) a free recovery service that might work, but they make no promises and there is no timeline. It is, I believe, really a research tool for the engineers to find out what causes file corruption and being able to recover is a bonus. Not sure if this link still works: corrupt_indesign_docs@adobe.com
