Hi there,
I'm having a little issue with the opacity setting in Indesign. I've placed a number of objects (images) and i want to make them transparent. However, the opacity setting doesn't seem to be doing anything - even with the slider sent all the way down to 0% opacity, the images remain relentlessly opaque. I've had a look over the related questions in this forum - I don't think it's a global colour issue, and I'm working in Typical display performance - would appreciate any other suggestions.
cheers
InDesign version? Operating system version?
Is it just in one file, or try in a new document to see if it works there?
(1) If one document, it could be corrupted. Save as IDML and reopen to remove corruption:'
Clean corrupt files by exporting to .IDML or .INX
(2) If all files, try restoring your InDesign preferences:

Hi Steve, thank you for replying so quickly .... the indesign version is 14.0.2, and I'm using macOS Mojave 10.14.6
I've just opened another document and the transparency slider works just fine .....
so on to your next step - exported as IDML and reopened .... hurray! that's worked!!
thank you so much!!

Hi genie692 ,
change to High Quality display performance and to Overprint Preview.
You should see now how transparency will affect the object.

Uwe

Glad that fixed it! It just happens sometime, kind of unpredictable.
