Since switching to Indesign CC i cannot override Master Page elements with ctrl+shift anymore.

I tried resetting the preferences as suggested in another post but its still not working.

This is VERY annoying when working with large documents with many pages.

can i manually add a short cut? i havent found the name for the desired operation in the shortcuts

thanks in advance!

Hi Uwe,

thank you for your fast reply!

While testing different documents and setups i stumbled upon a solution: I just re-applied the Master-Layout to the current page with drag and drop and now it works!

for the record: I am using Windows 10.18362 and i tried Indesign 2019 and 2020. It worked normally in Indesign 2017

Cheers and Thanks!

Stefan

Hi,

what's your exact version of InDesign on what operating system?

I see no issues with overriding master page elements with e.g. my German InDesign 2020 on Windows 10 Pro version 1903. How are you using Ctrl + Shift? With clicking elements? With drawing out a selection marquee?

Is that issue with all documents?
Or only with specific documents?

What's your input device? Mouse?

Regards,
Uwe Laubender

I just had this problem on indesign 2021 and I figured it out (in my case anyway).

I wasn't able to grab a text box off of the master page with ctrl + shift, so I went to the master page and found that the textbox I was trying to grab was locked there. I unlocked it, went back to the page that had the master applied and was able to grab the text box this time.
