Hi

I have done som changes to the numberings and now the pages are going haywild. There is no order to it and I can not fix it somehow. I do not know what I have done...

How do I rearrange the page numbers correctly?

See small triangles above page icons? Theses are section starts and they are the cause of your issue. Just double-click on each and untick “section start”.

If all you want is linear numbering, that's it: just eliminate all but the first section marker/break.

If you wanted a numbering change — such as the common one of numbering the front matter from i to xx or whatever, and then start over with your first content page as 1, that's done by placing a section start where you want the new numbering to begin, and setting all the values (numbering type, start-at number, etc.)

InDeisgn is not a simple program to use and the initial learning curve is quite steep. You might look into the basic tutorials on document setup, page layout, styles, etc. There are some here, and others on resources like LinkedIn. They can really help you get a handle on the fundamentals.
