Pages are displaying in INDD...

Indesign says it is open, the panels etc are there but I can't see the pages. Creative Cloud is all up to date. I have restarted my Mac several times. I have unistalled and reinstalled. I have tried opening other InDesign files and have the same problem all of them.

It worked yesterday!

I've tried resetting with Shift + Opt + Contol + Command etc - didn't work.

Tried unchecking 'application frame' in window - didn't work.

Please help as I urgently need to do some work and can't do anything at the moment as I can't see my file.

Thanks in advance!

We might need a screen shot, but a couple of ideas first:

  • When you held down Shift + Opt + Control + Command then launched Photoshop, did you get a dialog asking you to reset preferences?
    Try another way: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/kb/indesign-preferences-support-file-locations.html
  • Do you have (or have you ever had) two monitors?
The pages could be in the other monitor.
  • Turn the Application frame back on, then go to Window > Workspace > Reset [current] Workspace
  • Also try Window > Arrange > Consolidate (also try Tile if needed)
  • Can you see the pages in the Pages panel?

Let us know if any of this fixes it or if we need to look further.

Many thanks, Jane

Yes - I reset preferences on launching holding down the buttons.

I don't have two monitors.

Yes - I can see pages in panel.

Tried all your recommendations and noting has worked - attached is what I see...

Thanks,
Lauren

Hi Lauren,

export the document to IDML, open the IDML file as document and save to a new name.

My guess: something's wrong with your document.

EDIT: In first reading I did not get that the issue happens with every InDesign document you opened.

So exporting to IDML is not the way to go.

Uwe, did you catch this sentence?

"I have tried opening other InDesign files and have the same problem all of them."

Indeed, I did not. Thanks for that.

Obviously I need more coffee this morning…

How did you "optimize" your Mac?

The first step at the Crucial website is to update your software.

https://www.crucial.com/articles/mac-users/how-to-clean-and-optimize-mac

I was holding back on saying update your graphics card until we learned more, because this is done manually by Windows users and automatically through updates to macOS for Mac users. We've seen the "black screen" issue on the Photoshop forum and it's usually a defective monitor profile or the graphics driver needs to be updated.

If you installed an update to macOS, then yes, that could have been the fix.

I'm glad it's working for you now! 😊

Mac? Have you tried Cmnd-Alt-0 already? (Cmnd-Alt-zero that is, use the zero in the top of your keyboard, not on your numerical keypad on the right!)
