When I place any image from Bridge to InDesign I only drag it from Bridge to InDesign.
What file type has the image?

Drag and drop from Bridge to InDesign does work. But i wonder why the function through the pulldown menu doesn't work anymore, it always has worked.

Drag and drop should work. If it is not working it might be the same reason as the menu command will not work.
You did not answer the very important question:

The drag and drop function does work, no problems there. The file types are jpg, ai, psd. Illustrator en Photoshop files. The version of InDesign is the latest, version 17.3.

Also the latest version, 12.0.2
I also installed version 11.0 to try if it works there, but it also doesn't work there.

Hi Martijn,
just tried to use the place command from Adobe Bridge 12.0.2.202 for JPEG images on my hard disk with InDesign 2022 17.3.0. As far as I can see I have no issues with that if all the necessary startup scripts for Adobe Bridge are executed when I start Bridge*. The selected images are loaded to InDesign's place gun ( place cursor ) when InDesign 2022 is running and a document is open.
I'm on Windows 10.
Also tested with JPEG images on my Dropbox folder.
No issue so far.
[*] When the startup scripts in Bridge are not loaded, I had this issue with an earlier version of Bridge, the menu command for placing in InDesign ( and also other apps installed ) is not available.

Hi Martijn,
do you see this error, if you try to place JPEG images that are located on your desktop?
And, perhaps also important, if the InDesign document is also saved on your desktop?

Just to make that sure:
You have no issues to load the said JPEG files to the InDesign cursor when using InDesign's File > Place… command from the GUI?
( Perhaps it's time for trashing InDesign caches and preferences? )

Hi Martijn,
at the time you are using the Place > In InDesign command in Bridge, make sure that there is no modal dialog window* open in InDesign. For example the dialog for a new paragraph style. Bridge or InDesign will not notify you that the cursor cannot be populated with images. It's just failing silently. No error message or something like that…

[*] A modal dialog is a window that forces the user to interact with it before they can go back to using the parent application.
