Poor Share for Review integration

Share for Review just doesn't work!

The share for review is a potentially incredible feature (if it worked.)

Most of the reviews disappear or never show; when the copy is highlighted and you attempt to make the corrections to the copy the zoom jumps to full page view; when those corrections are made in the copy—and there can be more than you think—the correction itself moves to "unmapped", creating a neverending list of corrections and revisions that are now impossible to track, making them useless.

The list of things that don't work go on for ever. (not a hardware nor update problem...it happens on Macs and PCs)

Hello

Sounds frustrating.

Have you tried the troubleshooting pages?

Hi Sergio,

note, that working with Save As on the document will erase access to a previous done review.

That's only one of the architectual flaws of the feature.

Hi Laubender,

Thanks for the reply, but this is not the case. There is no save as...the file is always the same.

I publish a series of print/online magazines and international newspapers; this requires the collaboration of writers, editors, designers, etc etc...when they add comment (whether highlighting the word or using a marker to highlight the spot where the error is), when the designer zooms in closer to look at the error and uses the {T} tool to fix the error, there is a jump to [fit the page]. This makes it impossible to work when on a page you have 30 errors to fix and when you are looking at 24 page tabloid/newspaper or a 80 page book (We are talking about Toronto Star, WSJ, National Post, Global Heroes, INSPADES Magazine, Globe and Mail...etc ).

Then there is the problem that they disappear...

Well, it also happens if you do a Save As to the same file.

( Which usually is/was recommended to prevent file damage in the long run by removing file overhead. )

True, but I [save as a copy], this gives me a chance to have the previous versions at hand without deleting the history of the changes (that once done need to be verified and approved).

Tracking the changes and reviews is important when there are so many moving parts and when clients are involved.

On a daily basis we have clients telling us that certain changes were not maid, or that they never asked for a certain modification...and there is where having the history of what happened on each page helps.

Some clients are craaazyy bahahahahha 😄

LATEST

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about that. We are constantly improving the performance and experience of the app & new features. Could you please share a few more details like:

  • Os and version of InDesign
  • A small video demonstrating the issue would be really helpful.
  • Which browser is used to review?
  • Are there any extensions or plugins installed on the web browsers?
  • Could you please share the link to the document in which you are facing the issue?
  • Could you also package the file, including links & fonts, and share it with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.

We are here to help. We just need more information.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini
