Let's say I have a document with a style called "Giant Cool Heading" and another style called "Style 1".
Style 1 has already been set up with color, size, underline, etc.
Is there a way I can somehow, within the same document, tell "Giant Cool Heading" to "copy" all the settings within "Style 1" ?
I realize I can delete Giant Cool Heading, replace it with Style 1, then rename it, but wondering if it can be done the way I described.
thanks
Yes, there is.
Go into Giant Cool Heading.
Change the "based on" setting to "Style 1".
Click on "Reset to Base"
Change the "based on" setting back to [No Paragraph Style] (or leave it as is).
Click OK.
Voila!

If I'm understanding you do this with the Duplicate Style command in the Paragraph Styles panel menu. It will create a new style using all the same properties as the original.

Hi Steve - thanks, but this won't work, because, as noted, both styles already exist in the document.
