Print Issue - Indesign PDF Document

Hello, 

I am creating  booklet for work and it is ready to go. However, when printed the front cover has these squares appearing (not visible anywehre else in the booklet) and unsure how to get rid of these. Picture attached to show it. PDF and InDesign look fine, print is the issue.

I have tried to Google it but not 100% sure what to call the issue, I have looked at the following website and attempted to 'flatten' and change this option but still no use -

I also don't have the 'composite CMYK' option to change, picture attached, only composite RGB or Gray. Even when I change the printer option it still doesn't give CMYK.

I wondered if it is because I have added a photo to a circle shape and it's still showing the hidden/cropped part of the photo. The photo is a PNG file. 

Can anyone help?

First thing, rather than trying to print to Microsoft PDF try creating your PDF the recommended way by File > Export > Adobe PDF (Print)... I would try the PDF/X-4 preset first.

As Peter wrote, create a PDF from InDesign only via export, never print it. 

As a CC subscriber you should never usetoprint to Microsoft PDF as you havethe superior Adobe PDF. 

Many Adobe Applications have either Export or Save as PDF. If this is the case you should never use the print command to create any PDF.

Don't worry, I always export and make PDFs via the suggested method. The print option was part of a troubleshoot answer I had found online, sadly didn't work though 😞

Using the method that Peter mentioned, under File/Adobe PDF Presets you can define your own quality or choose PDF/X-4:2008. See if that clears it up.
