Hello,

I wonder if anyone could help pointme in the right direction with the overlap between digital publishing and print. I want to copy some text from a web document and re format it for print. However when I copy the text box to the print file and apply the new type styles the text shrinks. See screenshot below showing the type size. It scales it somehow and I cant figure out what that is/ how to turn it off!

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Helen,

thank you for the document!

Well, the text frame was scaled as I thought. To about 27.51 %.

From my German InDesign 2022:

TextFrameScaled-1.PNG

You could change that if you "Redefine Scaling to 100%" ( "Skalierung als 100% neu definieren" in my German version ) using the Transform panel like that:

RedefineScalingTo100%.png

When done, remove the text and paste it in formatted again.

Hi Helen,

the text frame of the target document is scaled. The scaling percentage of this scaled frame is applied to the frame. So everything you paste in, text or anchored objects for example, will be scaled to the frame's scaling percentages.

You could redefine scaling of the text frame to 100% using the Transform panel when selecting the target text frame.

Hi,

Thank you for the quick response, where can I find the Transform panel? I tried Object > transform > clear transformations  but that didn't do anything, I also couldn't see anything in the text box options.

Can you tell me whats the purpose of the text scaling??

Hi Helen,

maybe I was wrong?

Could you share a document with a single text frame with that issue?

Thanks,
Uwe Laubender
