I am having the same re-occuring issues in writing with InDesign (v. 18.2.1) , I can't write the letter "s", this prtoblem is only with InDesign, if I write on Word on other App it writes the letter "s", but Indesign doesn't write it ! I've upgrade both InDesign and SysOp (now I have Ventura 13.1) but I had the same problem with the previous version of InDesign and SysOp. Has anyone had the same problem? Thanks..

It could be simple as your preferences - or a keyboard shortcut unintentionally assigned
Try resetting your preferences:
Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

-------------
Try starting in safe mode on the mac and open only indesign.
If the S key works then there's another application hijacking your key.
Restart and open indesign and see if the issue persists.
If it's still there - then try closing background applications until you find the culprit.
------
Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the

Which InDesign tool(s) did you use to try and create the letter S?
Do you also have Illustrator and Photoshop installed, they may be be better applictaions for creating specially designed characters.
