I'm not seeing it, under Win11.
Does it show high usage with no document open? A simple/older document open?

high usage starts immediately, no doc open.
i'm thinking some adobe - connection - server issue?
Adobe installed something "Adobe Genuine Service", but paying my ass off for over 20 yrs now, so that couldn't be the issue

Hm. Will something change if you turn off GPU support in InDesign's preferences and after a restart of the machine?

Hi Uwe,
Alas, no, doesn't help. Thought of font conlicts and external Monotype Fontexplorer font management.
Got rid of those plug-ins but didn't help also.
Same problem with Illustrator by the way.
I had to bring in extra fans 😉 Funny but not ...
And lots of work so not much time to trial and error

Here is a compendium of troubleshooting. Likely a thorough reset will help.

Hi Mike, thanks for the list.
Extensive enough 🙂
I'll start with deleting the preferences, sigh ... something we used to do in the very old days ...

Having same problem here with iMac 2017 equiped with intel Core i5 quad-core - 32 GB 2400 DDR4 RAM - AMD Radeon Pro 575 4 GB - MacOS Monterey 12.5.1 - Indesign 17.4. CPU usage rises over 100% when shifting from an other app back to Indesign, or typing, or saving a file. How can we fix this?
