Publish online thumbnail on Facebook issue

Participant ,

I see others have had the problem in the past, but I'm not seeing a solution.

When I share my Indesign publish online link to Facebook, the thumbnail of the first page doesn't show. It's just blank.

I tried Facebook debugger and it gave me this error message:

"Invalid Image Content Type: Provided og:image URL, https://indd.adobe.com/view/publication/12a56d22-aa20-4b1b-8bd0-538304b1457c/1/Thumbnails/Share/shar... could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type."

(Uploading my own thumbnail image doesn't resolve the problem, either).

Using Indesign 19 on Windows 11 x64. Latest chrome browser.

Hi @thekohlervillager ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. We have seen a similar issue, which was resolved after manually adding the cover image. If that didn't work for you, would you mind testing it on a new file and see if it's happening with specific or multiple files?

Thanks

Rishabh

Hi Rishabh,

I am facing the same problem. I have tried keeping it at the default FIRST PAGE. I have tried UPLOAD IMAGE option. I have tried using another file altogether.

The error message I get is always the same.

Provided og:image URL, [URL] could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type.

Does the page by chance include SVG graphics? Or is FB, in all these cases, rejecting a simple image format (JPEG, PNG)?

There are no SVG graphics. I tried using the First Page, then a JPG imagine, then I tried a PNG image.

You can see an image missing in the placeholder when I run Facebook Debugger (see screenshot).

When I scrape again, the placeholder disappears (see second screenshot).

And to show you what I am doing, there's a screenshot of the InDesign Publish Online.

I have used this previously, and it has worked. It is a bug in the latest version.

Oh, the first two screenshots were with the First Page chosen. I used a PNG file this time. But it still returns an error.

All somewhat-educated guesses and a clean miss on all, sorry. (I don't use PO so was relying on collateral experience.)
