"Show in Finder" Problem in InDesign

I use a Mac Studio Apple M2 Max and have the problem that I can no longer display the document in the Finder in the bar where the file name is displayed with the right mouse button. When I click on “Show in Finder” InDesign jumps to the Finder but does not show the InDesign document but the window that is currently open in the Finder and no the window has not appeared on another screen or behind other Finder windows.

I have another problem with the shortcuts - I can no longer display the file within the document when I click on the “Go to shortcut” icon.

Yes, I have restarted and reinstalled the computer and the program. The problems with the “Show in Finder” are only with InDesign and not with any other program.

Unfortunately, you've missed extremely important piece of information - OS version and InDesign version.

ich habe das Problem auch. Allerdings liegt die Ursache an einem neuen NAS Server-Volume, dessen Betriebssystem Linux ist; im Unterschied zum alten Server, der mit macOS als Betriebssystem gefahren wurde. Betrifft alle InDesign-Dateien, die vom Server geöffnet werden. Nicht die, die beispielsweise lokal vom Desktop meines Macs geöffnet wurden.

Im Moment sehe ich keine Abhilfe. Vielleicht gelingt es mir, ein Skript zu schreiben, das geöffnete InDesign-Dateien, die auf dem Server gespeichert sind, im Finder zu markieren. Oder zumindest das korrekte Verzeichnis zu öffnen. Werde ich demnächst mal probieren. Kann aber nichts versprechen, da ich im Moment im Urlaub bin…

Ich habe es mal ausprobiert. Ich habe tatsächlich eine neue Lacie 5TB Festplatte via USB C angeschlossen. Mit den Daten auf dem Desktop funktioniert es, via Festplatte nicht. Eventuell liegt es an meiner Formatierung da ich diese Platte nicht wie sonst einfach wie ab werk benutzt habe sondern im Mac Format formatiert habe. Bringt zumindest ein bisschen mehr Licht ins dunkle.

InDesign is extremely sensitive to the access speed - if you can't work on your external drive directly - it means that your drive is too slow.

in my case and that of Dominik's I do not think it's a problem with access speed.
Why? Because I can select a link of a placed image in the Links panel, and the InDesign's feature is working to show the image file on the NAS.

had no time to write a script that will intercept InDesign's own menu command "Show in Finder" to show the InDesign document in its folder selected. But I'm at it…

neue Erkenntnisse von meiner Seite:

[1] Das Problem besteht auch in älteren Versionen von InDesign. Habe 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 und 2024 getestet.

Überall das gleiche Verhalten.

Aber es gibt eine Alternative:

[2] Nutze den gleichen Befehl unten am Rande des Dokument-Fensters.

Der in Rot umkringelte Befehl funktioniert nicht, der in Grün allerdings schon.

[3] Oder verzichte auf den "Anwendungsrahmen" unter Fenster > Anwendungsrahmen, der bei mir immer eingeschaltet ist.

Dann kannst Du oben am Dateinamen im Reiter direkt in den Finder zur Datei wechseln.
