Re-Link Modified Excel File Troubleshooting

Hello,

I have an InDesign table linked to an Excel file that gets updated every 2 weeks. I should be able to go into InDesign and simply update the modified link. There are about 15 versions of this document - so what's odd is that it works for some, but not for others. On some, it forces me to re-Place the link, and I have to adjust the column width to fit my page (time-consuming). How can I get it to update without having to re-place the file each time?

The number of rows on each Excel file decreases as we run out of a certain product. Could the deletion of rows be causing this issue? If so, does anyone know of a workaround to this?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have this option selected in Preferences > File Handling?
