Regularly unable to save or export after leaving application open for a while.

(Mac)

This is the case for InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects...

If I leave a program open for a little while, either actively using or leaving it minimized as I use other programs/applications, then attempt to save, (either cmnd+S or file > save) nothing will happen. The save button isn't greyed out, its clickable, but I click it and nothing happens. I attempt to export, via menus and key commands, same thing, nothing happens. So, If I had already saved recently, I force quit, reopen, and everything works fine...Until it happens an hour or so later again. On every CC app that I regularly use this happens.

Force quitting is a temporary and unsustainable solution, any other ideas?

What OS on the Mac?
What are the system specs?

What version of Creative Cloud?

Off the top of my head if it's happening with every application it's either something interferring with it like a third party app - for me I have web root which enables a key lock and I have to disable it everyday to allow modifier keys to work ---- or it's an installation issue.

For you it could be a different app or something else.

First thing I would try is

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
