Is it possible to edit chapter/section numbering manually like in case of MSFT Word?

I heve a long chapter which go through 20 pages and i would like to show the same chapter/section number on the top of each pages but with different titles. The automatic numbering works well but as i would like to "freeze" the numbering like chapter 8.1 through page 20 to page 40 and continue with 8.2 from page 41 i did not find a solution. Attached you can see a picture about that what i would like to realize.

So you need to do this with Text Variables and running heads

For the running heads use Character Styles

8.1 is character style maybe called "Frozen headers" - it doesn't have to have any style properties
And the title in the paragraph will also have  Character style - 'Frozen Headers Titles'

In the paragraph style for 8.1 - you can have  a nested style

In the nested style - choose Frozen Headers up to 1 tab (whatever the separator is for the text)

And the next nested style is Frozen Headers Title up to end of

When you place your running header on the master page using Text Variables

It should pick up the Character styles and display them
