I have resized an image to 120px x 120px , 300dpi in Indesign.  I have then exported the image to my network drive as a jpeg.   However, I go to look at the size of my exported image only to find that the dimensions are now 500px x 500px.    I don't understand why this is happening.  Why does my export make the image bigger than what I specified in InDesign - I'm a beginner to the application and would be grateful for any advice.  I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong:

It's because it's 72ppi exported from InDesign.

But it's the same thing.

Open it in Photoshop and resample the image and you will get the 120 x 120 @ 300 ppi

Hi @Guest23987160mk30 , Pixels in InDesign are a Ruler unit, not a measurement of resolution. If you change your Rulers to Inches your document should be 1.666” x 1.666”, so an Export at 300ppi would be 500 (1.666 x 300=500). An Export at 72 as Eugene suggests would be 120x120 (1.666x72=120).
