Using a Mac Studio on Ventura OS.
If I edit and save an INDD doc, then quickly export a pdf, the recent edits are not in the pdf. If I wait 10-15 seconds, the edits will be in the exported pdf. I've never had this problem before. Since InDesign version 1, I could export a pdf as soon as I saved a document and all changes would be there. This is a troublesome and serious issue because either I have to wait to export, or remember to review the pdf to make sure all edits are there before sending a client a file. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a fix? Thank you!

Where is your file saved - locally or iCloud / something remote?

Hi @edwinac7220486:
I have not seen this. InDesign does require that we save before we export to PDF so maybe your are experiencing a slower than normal save? Are you working with a particularly large file or with lots of embedded images? What does Window > Utilities > Background tasks show after you save? Is the save appearing as a background task for the 10 to 15 seconds?

First, thank you for your time. The anomoly happens with all files, large and small. And has been happening since I updated Indesign to 18.2.1. I don't embed images or other links. I checked the activity monitor tonight and didn't see any lingering saves there. But tonight I opened several files, made changes and exported as pdf and they all came out correct. Why, I don't know. The pdfs showed the changes whether the files were stored in a folder on my hard drive, or whether they were stored on my desktop. (I tried both ways as a test.) It's a mystery to me, and will probably begin again tomorrow.

What version of Ventura? Any pre-13.5 version could cause issues with InDesign (although didn't see your problem reported before).

Ventura 13.4.1. I usually hesitate to update Indesign because the update might not be compatible with my font manager (Suitcase Fusion 2). Maybe I should look into that and try updating my OS. Thank you for the thought.

There were a multitude of problems with Ventura that were fixed after this.
