Trying to determine why a link says it is placed at 61.25% Scale Percentage in the control toolbar up top, but at 101.1% in the info in the Link panel?

I should clarify: the screenshot below shows the link when selected with the Selection tool. Percentages don't match.

Screen Shot 2021-06-20 at 8.29.50 PM.png

The one here, shows with direct selection and the link info now matches--which makes sense.

The image below shows a different link on the previous page, which is roughly the same size and DPI as the mis-matched one, but this one matches percentage in both locations when selected. Which is why I'm confused...

If you select the frame, as you do, it shows the scaling of the frame.

If you select the content of the frame, it shows the scaling of the image.

Scaling a frame mitght be an issue if you want to scale the stroke with the frame. If it is wanted otherwise you should change it in the preferences. In the top section. Allggemein in German, I would translate it to Common. There is a section about object editing. There you can change it. If you change it with an oopen document it will be changed for that document only. If you change it with no document open it will change any new document, but affect existing documents.

BTW: Are you aware that you can use PSD or if no transparency is used also JPG files in InDesign and it is recommended to use RGB images. Ok, with drawings, CMYK might be ok. But consider to use RGB in InDesign.

The frame and the content within it are always scaled together in this document. When direct selecting the linked image that says the content is 100% and the frame is 60% (that doesn't make sense), the image edges align with the frame edges, too--which leads me to believe everything should be the same percentage.

Also, I'm not clear why images that are roughly the same size (2540x2950px, 400DPI), as shown here, are appearing scaled at 60% in one instance by 100% in the other.

Per your second comment, this is for a print book so final links are CMYK TIFFs always.

Obviously they were scaled independently.

yes, for print RGB images with Color Profile are used normally in modern age in InDesign.

Can you share the problem InDesign page via Dropbox or your CC account?

An image’s output scale would be the Actual PPI divided by the Effective PPI multiplied by 100, so your Links panel is showing the correct scale—(400/396)x100 = 101.1

Hi @alisonkeefe , there’s nothing wrong with converting the images to CMYK in Photoshop as long as you are using the correct press profile as the destination. You can also place profiled RGB with Overprint preview turned on, and make the same color managed conversion of all the images on a PDF export by setting the correct CMYK Destination in the Output tab. Placing RGB can be more efficient and flexible in cases where the printer is not known or could change.
