Share For Review - Hyperlinks In Document Won't Link Out

My company has been using the Share for Review function in InDesign for nearly two years. It has its flaws but generally it's worked pretty well for us. All of a sudden, hyperlinks aren't working.

We can create and update the Share for Review link itself but all hyperlinks within the document won't work. The hyperlinks show up as links in the document and online (blue, underline) but when you click on them they don't do anything. You can't even right click to get options to open in a new tab or copy the link. I have checked and unchecked every box, changed what kind of file it is, exported a pdf first to see if that helps, and looked through all the settings. Nothing has worked. We link out to other places on nearly every page so this new issue is really disruptive to our work.

Has anyone else come acorss this issue?

Hi @lzbthmlly519 ,

will the hyperlinks work in an exported PDF from the same document when you export to PDF (Interactive) ?

Will they also work if you test Publish Online with the same document?

Hey @Laubender
Thanks for the fast reply. I just tested it and the links work in both those cases. Just not Share for Review (they used to).

Ok. Well, there is another thread with the same issue posted.

No funcionan hipervínculos en link adobe (compartir para revisión)

So it's likely that the issue lies on the "Share For Review" services' side.

If that's the case you cannot do much, but to write a bug report at InDesign UserVoice:

https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs

There is a category for Share For Review in the sidebar.

Hi @lzbthmlly519,

We are sorry to hear you're having trouble with hyperlinks in InDesign. I tried reproducing the issue at my end, and it worked fine. Would you mind creating a new file and then trying with a new hyperlink? Please also try with a different browser. To investigate further on the issue, a few more details would be super helpful like-

  • The OS and the InDesign version.
  • Please share the "Share For Review" document link.

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Gracias!

Hm. Here is another thread with the same problem:

The OP just stated that the hyperlinks are working with PDF (Interactive) and with Publish Online.

So I think, that problem lies on the "Share For Review" services' side. Don't think, that you can do something, but to write a bug report at InDesign UserVoice:

Hi @Steff25040935yh5k ,

We're so sorry to hear about the trouble. I tested this on the latest version of ID 17.3 and on macOS and it's working so would you mind sharing a sample file and link so that we can test this on our end? To share the file you can try the steps suggested here https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/share-your-files-in-6-simple-steps/td-p/12967520

Regards

Rishabh
