Still unable to merge image files into an InDesign Document

Explorer ,
Jul 17, 2024 Jul 17, 2024

I followed the most recent instructions to replace the HFS style path with the POSIX style path in the data source file on my Mac.  I still get an error message that the data source references a missing image.  It is not pulling in any of my pictures as it did in the older versions of InDesign.  This is highly frustrating as I am trying to build a directory with profile images and have done this for years without any issues until this latest version of ID.   Please provide any additional information to get through this.

As it states at https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/data-merge.html I have changed my old file path from
Macintosh  HD:Users:name:Library:CloudStorage:OneDrive:SA_Partner Photos:filename.png

to

/Users/name/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive/SA_Partner Photos/filename.png

I was just pushed an update to 19.5 and this fixed it along with changing the source path from HFS to a POSIX path.

How path looks like when you place image manually?

And what are the synchronisation setting for your OneDrive? You need to turn off "save space" or something like that - so your files will be available offline - physically present on your drive.

Thanks, Robert, for your reply. I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to, but I do have my OneDrive files set to sync and be available online and offline.

Hi @CarolinaSaltz , I can’t test this for you, but from the documentation it looks like the latest version sets the user folder as the path’s root.

So does /Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive/SA_Partner Photos/filename.png work?

No, it did not work to just use library as the root, I had to use the full path name without "Macintosh HD" in it.    I copied and pasted the full path name from the Get Info of the image file, which puts a slash where there used to be a colon.
Right-click on the image>Get Info>Select the "Where" path at the top, then right-click on it to copy it as a pathname> Paste in your source file under your image column with the @ symbol at the beginning of the column name.
