Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. Generally, this happens due to third-party applications such as Chrome, antivirus interfering with the keyboard keys. I would suggest you try running the app inSafe Modeand launch InDesign only. In Safe Mode, your system starts to perform certain checks and prevent third-party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. Let us know how it goes.
Also, you may upgrade to the latest version of InDesign v17.0 and see if that helps.
