Toggling between windows (tabs), InDesign freezes???

I am running Indesign version 17.2.1 x 64 on a Windows operating system.  I am running into an issue that InDesign freezes when I switched to other files that are also opened in indesign.  It is aweful for my work-flow when I need to reference multiple files at a time.  I have seen this topic pop up in older versions... but never really a resolve with the issue.  I have the latest version downloaded from Creative Cloud.

Any advice???

"I have the latest version downloaded from Creative Cloud."

No. The latest version is 17.3.0.

Apart from that, toggling between open layout windows should not freeze InDesign. Not 17.2.1 and also not 17.3.0. So the reason for this may be somewhere else. Corrupt chaches perhaps? Corrupt preferences?

When InDesign is not running:

Do a backup of the cache and preferences folders with the name Version 17.0 and after that remove them.

Only then restart InDesign and open your documents.

Preferences can be found:

User > [User name] > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > InDesign > Version 17.0

Caches:

User > [User name] > AppData > Local > Adobe > InDesign > Version 17.0
