Hello! I cannot figure out how to get the object (selected red) above the black rectangle in this image. I have created different layers, and the red one is my top (fourth) layer but it still pulls in, seemingly, behind my black rectangle (second) layer. I drew it with the pen tool and have tried drawing a new object but it still drops in behind the black rectangle when I place it in there.

I am new to InDesign and don't know what else to do to get this layer above the other one. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I just discovered the issue for any others who have this problem: I had the Opacity set to "Overlay" when it should have been set to "normal"

DO you distinguish between Layers and Objects and Groups? Each of them is an entry in the layer panel.

Can you pos a screen shoot of this spread of the layer panel with all items expanded?

Hi @Donatel2 ,

best show a screenshot of your Layers panel with all items expanded when you selected the object.

Also check what this "black rectangle" really is. Identify the one in your Layers panel.

There could be other reasons that you are not able to see its contents.
