Transparency, feathers not showing correctly in Indesign 2026

Hello,
I've been seeing issues with feathers (and any kind of transparency related effects) that were working correctly in Indesign 2025, not showing/working in Indesign 2026.

Below is an example with a Directional feather correctly in Indesign 2025, and not showing in 2026.

Adobe, what's the work-around here: don't open old documents???

Hi, this is happening with existing 2025 files that are opened in 2026; using version 21.0.1

We need to confidently open 2025 files in the new version (seems silly to type this out); without changes happening to objects using features that have been in Indesign since whenever.

If you create it in 2026 will it work? If so, try an IDML export from the current file to see if it corrects this. There were other bugs in 21.0 that were worked around this way.

Hi Bob, yes creating a new file and new objects will have feathers that work. I tried the IDML suggestion. Thanks, but it didn't work. The directional feather that works in 2025 does not work in 2026.

If you use them a lot, you might want to stick with 2025 and report it as a bug here: Adobe InDesign
