Trying to find/replace specific characters in filename tags

I have a document I imported multiple artwork files with their filenames in text boxes underneath and I am trying to simplify the filename by removing a certain number of characters at the end but the problem is the characters are all different so I dont know how to tell Find/Change to account for varying characters in the filenames to be able to remove them from all text boxes. Is this even possible?

You need to be more precise. Characters after the last (or first) underscore, for example? Some other criterion?

Yeah, as @Peter Kahrel pointed out - we need more information - which part you want to replace / remove - then GREP expresion culd be created.
