Unable to Accept Updates to the Developer Terms of Use

Following a suggestion here on the forum, I opened the file on one of the stock Applescript scripts.

In its heading, there was a prompt to visit an Adobe website to learn more about development, etc...

The link is this: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/indesign/sdk.html

But it opens here: https://developer.adobe.com/indesign/

Never mind, though.

If I click on "Get the SDK" or on "Console" or on anything else, I get asked to accept the Updated Terms, but the button is greyed out and I cannot proceed:

This is the first time I visit this website.

I have clicked on the blue link, read the terms, but then I cannot Accept.

What am I missing?

Hi @Inélsòre , I’m not sure where you are finding the Applescript examples, but AppleScript is not part of the SDK. If you just want to look at some Applescript samples, there is a folder of samples for both JavaScript (ExtendScript) and Applescript that get installed in your scripts panel. You’ll find the AppleScript samples in this folder: ⁨Applications⁩ ▸ ⁨Adobe InDesign 202X ▸ ⁨Scripts⁩ ▸ ⁨Scripts Panel⁩ ▸ ⁨Samples⁩ ▸ ⁨AppleScript⁩. Or you can right click one in the panel to edit or reveal in the finder.

That's where I went.

If you open any AppleScript one, you will find the first link I've posted.

No idea why I cannot accept the terms and get started with the rest.

Try opening one of the scripts from your Finder:

When you get there, there are multiple version specific sets of downloads. One of them is the cpp plugin SDK, another one is about Scripting.

The Scripting download has the html-ized version of the former scripting guides PDFs (JS, AS and VBScript covered, UXP missing).

The example scripts appear to be the same as from the scripts panel, but there are also different scripts for InDesign Server and InCopy, and a large set of example snippets from the "scripting guide", some more for the "scripting tutorial".

I wonder if I am not explaining me properly.

I cannot get beyond the alert shown in the OP. I cannot click outside, I cannot click accept (it's greyed out), I can only click Sign Out, which will kick me out of my Adobe account login.

So... I cannot get there, and I don't know why, nor who to ask about this.

Why cannot I just accept the terms and move on?

My comment was a reply to Rob's "AppleScript is not part of the SDK", while it also answers one interpretation of your "what am I missing?". I did not get you wrong, though. We're mostly external here in the "U2U" forum, so we have no way to fix the broken web site. Just hold on until the Adobe admins return from their easter holiday.

By @Dirk Becker

Thank you Dirk.

It is hard to see who the answer was directed to in this forum if there's no direct quote.

Sorry for bothering you with this.

I will wait for the admins to come back.

I’m not sure why trying to open a script would launch a browser, but here are the Adobe sample scripts as both Javascript and Applescript plus some extra Applescripts on Dropbox:

By @rob day

Thank you, Rob.

I'm sorry if I badly explained myself: running the script didn't launch the browser.

I opened the script to learn about its structure, then found the link in the header of the script, copied it and opened it in my browser manually. Then the issue showed itself.

You need to click the link that will open the Developer Terms of Use in a new window or tab. After that the button will no longer be greyed out.

This is from my message:

"I have clicked on the blue link, read the terms, but then I cannot Accept."

It seems you've missed that.

I've tried again now, and it still shows the same issue.

This message to say that the problem persists after more than a month.

I can open the Developer Terms of Use as many times as I want in a new window or tab, the button will not become active.

Please provide a viable solution.

Just encountered the same issue in Safari. Switched to Firefox and had the problem again. Switched to Chrome and it finally worked. Apparently Adobe's web developers don't do a lot of cross-browser compatibility checking.

Well, I'm not going to install Chrome on my production Mac. I will just dedicate my time something else.

Thank you for checking as well.
