Unable to create/ open a document and Unable to create a text box / insert an image in InDesign

I am trying to create a document in indesign.

I open a new document and create the size - then nothing happens. I can't create a text box - insert an image. my cursor does not even show up on my screen. help!

Which version of InDesign and OS?

How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?

Have you tried resetting the InDesign preferences?

Sorry about the trouble. Could you please share a few more details along with the question asked by @Derek Cross :

• When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.
• Does resetting InDesign Preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/user-guide.html/in/indesign/using/setting-preferences.ug.html) help to resolve the issue?
  Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Also, I would suggest you to run the app in Safe Mode and Root/ Hidden Admin Account:

For Windows - Safe Mode | Hidden Account
For Mac - Safe Mode | Root Account

Let us know if you are able to create a new document or create a text box in these modes.
