I need to update some files built in 2012 and modified in 2017.
All the image elements a locked have a link symbol - and the text have Little Page icon associated with them. NOTHING is Locked on the page when I go to OBJECTS menu. Neither one of my layers are locked. The elements on the Master/Parent Pages are also uneditable, not locked and not on a locked layer.
When I try to select a text block, the Text Tool turns into the Hand tool. When I try to select ANYTHING in the document with the selection or Direct Selection tools, my cursor turns into the Hand Tool.
Please help!

I am on a MacBook Pro M1 chip/OS 12.2.1 Monterey. Current InDesign app is 17.1

Try this: on your Mac, run Disk Utility and repair permissions with First Aid.

Also, update InDesign to the latest version.

Hi @ajvanart:

Did you try resetting preferences?
https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/

Did you try saving the file as .idml? Or opening it on a different computer?

https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/troubleshoot-file-issues.html (Scroll down to damaged files)

Do you feel comfortable sharing the file?

Put on dropbox and post the link here (public) or message me directly (private).
