Unable to export images with metadata in InDesign

The metadata doesn't seem to transfer over after exporting as a PNG. I saved the .indd file before exporting it and the .indd file still contains the metadata I entered, but the PNG does not. I don't encounter this problem when I export as a PNG from Photoshop, only InDesign.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble. I am afraid there is no way to export images with metadata in InDesign. However, there are a couple of workarounds.

  1. You can export the image and open it up in Bridge and add metadata over there.
  2. Export the file as PDF as it will retain the metadata and open this PDF in photoshop and export it as a JPG.

Also, you could share your feedback and request for this feature with our product team using the UserVoice page (https://indesign.uservoice.com/), and they

This way, you will keep getting all the updates related to this feature, and other users can also upvote, which would help us prioritize.

For any further assistance, feel free to reach out. We'd be happy to help.

all I do is use exif utility called "KUSO EXIF VIEWER" free to downlad .

One can define what fields are important and then copy paste all relevant fields including field names.

That utility allows right click on any photo such as "Nef" or jpg to get immediate info and copy it.

The old "export for web legacy" also gives the same result
