Hi Everyone, I have been working for more than 40 hours on a document and when I'm trying to open it the indesign crash. When It try to re open it, indesign show me the file but then it shows the missing font window, and then crashes. I'm unable to press skip or anything...  The font is FFDingbats ArrowsOne

I have cleared my font cache, cleared my cache, disabled the font, change the name of the file.... but nothing worked... I have tried to open other files and have now issue with that, is just with this document.

Is there are way to fix this so I don't have to do it all over again?

Any help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated...

40 hours and no back-up copies?

It's a cautionary tale.

Divide the document in half, let's hope, one half will open and the other half will crash. Divide the crash half again and repeat the exercise until (hopefully) you isolate the issue, which sounds like a corrupt font.

Good luck!

hard to divide a file in half if it won't open...

Try moving all the links to a new folder temporarily, and uninstall all of the fonts you used (except system fonts) and don't replace the fonts or relink when the file opens. Most likely the problem is either a bad font or a bad image, and if it can't find either it may open, allowing you to do other diagnostics.

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble you are facing. I would like to know if the steps suggested above by @jane-e @Derek Cross @Peter Spier worked for you? If not, I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of InDesign
  • Share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • Where did you save the file (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System/ External HDD)?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Anshul Saini
