I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
I can't open the app 75% of the time if it does open it crashes when creating a new doc or opening one.
I don't know where to start to fix?

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing the version of the OS & InDesign? Do you get any specific error while launching the app?
In addition to the helpful suggestions earlier, I'd request you to try Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. You may use it to remove the Adobe app completely. Once done, please reinstall and let us know how it goes.
