undesired fonts appear

I have activated only a few of the Garamond Premier typefaces: I am using the Medium versions but not the Regular versions. Yet the Regular versions are constantly activated, and constantly interefere with my set styles, or are the first option offfered, or are the font that replaces type in flowed text. If I deactivate they appear again. How do I stop this? 

And WHY is there no scroll bar in the font list?

Sounds like maybe you should tryu resetting the prefs and and emptying the cache. See Reset InDesign Preferences and Other Troubleshooting

Fid you check, if a character style uses regular?

use find font. It lists all used fonts and you can go from there to its usage.

Interesting idea but I checked, and no, the font is not part of a style.
