URLs disappear in endnotes

I am exporting an InDesign (ver. 21.0) layout to reflowable ePub and there is a strange problem with the endnotes (see attached). URLs in the endnotes have disappeared, replaced by a very short underline. If you click on the underline it takes you to the link, but why is the text of the link (https://, etc.) missing?

This can happen whe reflowable EPUB strips out some hyperlink text when the link is created from a URL. InDesign often turns it into a bare hyperlink with no visible text, which shows up as that tiny underline. It is an EPUB export bug rather than anything you have done. The fix is to replace the auto generated hyperlink with normal text plus a manual hyperlink, or convert the endnotes to plain text before export. After that the full URL will appear correctly in the EPUB.
