Hey, all,
Quick question about Open GL and InDesign redrawing the screen after zooming. At my job, I'm working on a MacMini M2 (with updated Ventura) and HP 27A 27" monitor. Often when I zoom in and out of a document, the screen will not redraw and remain static. I then have to either zoom again (either direction) or tap a key on the keyboard to get InDesign to refresh the screen.
If the rulers are open, they will redraw automatically to whatever zoom I invoked without fail. It's the screen itself that usually craps out.
Here's the htich: in Preferences, under the GPU Performance setting, GPU Performance and Animated Zoom are grayed out. I see that OpenGL is deprecated on Ventura, but I still have never seen this before any other InDesign set up I've dealt with. I'm working with a MacMini M2 Pro at home and am not running into this.
Has anyone else ever encountered this issue before? Is this what's causing the screen redraw bug? To the best of my knowledge. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

What version of InDesign? What exact version of Ventura?

Ventura 13.6.4 (22G513)
InDesign 19.0.1
I need to make sure our department has the okay to update to 19.3. I'm not holding my breath on the update fixing this. Never say never, but that manuever rarely fixes things, at least for me.

Well, if you're resistant to updating InDesign I have nothing further to offer, I'm afraid.

I'm not resistant; I'm skeptical. Big difference. I clearly stated I can't update until I get my manager's okay.
But, hey, thanks for kinda sorta reading the post.

Sorry, but making sure everything is up to date is troubleshooting 101. When you get the okay and if things are still wonky come on back but display issues are among the fixes listed, though it's mentioned under Sonoma.

So, per the suggestion below, it looks like 19.3 may have solved the redraw thingy. The incidnencies of the redraw are radically down, but they still occur occasionally. It seems to happen while I have an active text box. Still need to play around with it a bit.

UPDATE 2:
Bug is still happening, just not as frequent. It may have something to do with a text box being active while zooming. I'm still tyring to figure out what the trigger is.

How do you connect with that monitor? Thunderbolt or DisplayPort or HDMI? Can you try switching that up to see if it is a factor? Does your MacMini have 8gb unified memory? Or 16gb?

I'm not in the office at the moment, but IIRC, it's HDMI and VGA, of all things. So an older model. I'm using HDMI and tried swapping out cables, to no avail.
I do have a VGA port on the USB-C hub I use, so the next time I can scrounge up a VGA cable, I'll give that a shot.
