My indd document was created in iD CS5.5. On opening in iD CS5, there is a popup which says that SharedContent plugin was used in the creation of the file. The popup then provides the option to proceed anyway. Will I be safe doing that, or is there a workflow for installing the plugin in CS5?
You cannot open an InDesign CS5.5 file directly in InDesign CS5. You need to choose File > Export > IDML and open the IDML file in InDesign CS4 or CS5.

My guess is you ran a trial of a later version somewhere along the line.
You're not the first to claim that a file is a certain version only to find
out it's not.

You're probably right... i do seem to remember having a trial version of CS5.5, but all is not lost... luckily, i saved an IDML file. Thanks for your reply!

If you are really stuck and have not done that before, download the new Indesign CC, open your old file and save it as a CS4 file and then open it with your Indesign CS4, it will save the file as an .idml and you will not get the message error/Suzanne

Hello all --- I am having the same problem (InDesign file won't open, cites several missing plug-ins and instructs "Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest versions of Adobe InDesign) so I downloaded the trial version of CS5.5 (was using CS5 previously) and the file still won't open.
Any suggestions?? I need this file for work and I'm on a tight deadline - any help is much appreciated!!
Thank you!
Allison

HI,
I am having the same trouble. The creative agency from the US sent me an .indd file (I don't know what version they used( I can't open in my CS5. I can open it in my CS6 but my trial has expired.
The link to the file is here
Thank you so much!

@maryelroman,
You'll need to agency to save the file as IDML to open it up in CS5. You have an older version of InDesign than the agency.

I'm having the same problem... is there anyone who would be kind enough to export the file I've placed at the link below to a CS4 compatible file? Ideally I need it in inx format, but as long as I can open it in CS4 I can handle it from there.
Thanks in advance!!!
