Why do I get SharedContent plugin error?

My indd document was created in iD CS5.5. On opening in iD CS5, there is a popup which says that SharedContent plugin was used in the creation of the file. The popup then provides the option to proceed anyway. Will I be safe doing that, or is there a workflow for installing the plugin in CS5?

You beat me.

Tried to open the provided document with the Simple-Saveback-Service from InDesign CS6. That failed.

Then I opened the document in CC 2015.2, exported to IDML, opened that in CS5 to find that page 2 was converted to the wrong size compared to the one of the original.
Btw.: The size of all pages differ from master A.

Yeah, I saw that too, and mentioned it when I returned the file (though not as explicitly as you). Going back 4 versions is going to require some work in most cases.

Getting the wrong size with page 2 seems to be an InDesign CS5 and CS5.5 bug (just tested).
CS6 did it right, just the same with CC or CC 2014.2.

That's very interesting. I presumed it was something to do with the page tool, but I didn't spend a lot of time digging.

Still, I have all versions of InDesign available from CS3 up to the latest version.
And with a little hack I could create inx files for CS2 or CS as well 😉

Hey everyone,

I'm getting the same error message when I try to open my file but I'm trying to open it on the same version of the software that it was created on, same computer. I apologize in advance if I missed the response to this but so far I've only seen people experiencing an issue with opening the file on an earlier version of the software than it was created. Thank you for any insight

If you are getting that error, then the file was saved in a newer version. Perhaps someone ran a trial?

Sorry. looks like I included the original .indd instead of the PDF, and you would get the error if you tried to open that. The IDML should work, though.

In any case, I've re-zipped the IDML and PDF and you can try again: Share large files. Get comments. Make it great. | Hightail Spaces
