Why "Next page" button on status bar sometimes turns into "Next spread" button?

Hello,

In the left bottom corner of Indesign window, on status bar among others there are "previous page" and "next page" buttons. But in some INDD files these buttons are labelled as "previous spread" and "next spread". And of course they behave as described. What is responsible for changing behavior of these buttons? I can't find a preference setting that changes the function of these buttons.

Hi marszewc,

this works like that:

When the whole page fits into the layout window it says "previous spread" and "next spread".

If you zoom in so that the whole page cannot fit into the layout window it says "previous page" or "next page".

Nothing to worry about, I think.

Thank you for answer, but in my case it is not correct. All my files are with facing pages.

Hi Laubender,

Indeed, this is how it works. I didn't notice it before. Thanks for the clarification.

Mariusz

While it's true that I can change the buttons from "spread" to "page" by zooming in, how do I change them back to "spread"?

Hi @rexj39023719 ,

zooming out so that the whole page or the whole facing pages fits the layout window.

LATEST

I already tried zooming out. I'm using the latest version of CC, but I've seen this in CS 5.5 too.
