Adobe InDesign slow performance on Windows 7

I have restarted InDesign, I have restarted the PC.

Working in any document, new or existing, I click on something, and the cursor has to "think" for a econd by giving me the circle rotating. No matter if I click on a tool choice, or a box, whatever.

Frustrating because it lags all day and it wastes my time.

Anyone have any insight on this issue

Thanks
Glen

Hi Glen,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with InDesign slow performance. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  1. Version of the Operating System and InDesign.
  2. Where the files are saved (Network Drive/ System Hard Drive/ Shared Folder on System /External Hard Drive)?
  3. When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates or web extensions installed recently.

Regards

Rishabh

• Windows 7 ( I don't have any other details on the PC, as I am at home now)

• Files are saved on the local Hard Drive

• I noticed it the past couple months, I know my work updated the Adobe subscription.

I read somewhere it could be pausing because the program is constantly contacting Adobe services, but I don't have any info on that as I am not the IT of my work.

Thank you for providing additional information Glen. Can you try resetting the preferences for InDesign by following the steps below:

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to Locations :
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Adobe.
  •  Rename InDesign folders to InDesign.old
  • Launch InDesign from CC.

Let us know if this works or if you need any further assistance.
