Edit: Sorry, I just realized you said "images".

Preferences > Type > Drag and Drop Text Editing > Enable in Layout View.

Are you dragging and dropping them onto the page? From Finder? Explorer? Bridge?

I'm not having any issue here. Make sure you're not trying to drag to a locked layer and / or create a new document and try it.

Hi Bernie,

just tried drag & drop with a JPEG image on a page with InDesign 2020 version 15.1.0.25 on Windows 10.

No issue so far.

InDesign's placegun, the cursor, was populated with the image and from that on I could either

[1] click to place the image or

[2] draw out a new frame to place it or

[3] place it with a click to a prepared graphic frame or,

[4] if I hold the Alt key, could click to an already populated frame to exchange the image there.

Regards,
Uwe Laubender

What operating system are you using? I'm noticing a lot of bug reports for InDesign 15.1 but most of the people responding are saying that whatever OS they (the responders) are using does not produce the same problem.

The OP said it was an issue from Explorer so I'm going to assume Windows 10.
