Hi together, I have an iMac from 2017 with 32gb Ram and an 8gb video card. Since I updated to Big Sur all Adobe products are extremely slow. They need up to 5 minutes to start and I see everytime the beachball. I cleaned the system and I tested to change system settings like transparency and animation. No better performance. Harddrive has enough space for working and virtual memory for all products.

It could not be my machine because Davinci Resolve is running fast with no lack.

Sometimes I need to hard quite the program and start it again or need to restart my iMac. I have this problems only with Adobe products. In this case Indesign. But it is also on Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

No other programs are running on start up indesign. All programs are on the latest version.

Has anyone similar problems and a fix?

thanks kind regards R.

Can you please try resetting your preferences

You can find similar methods for other adobe products online

This one is for InDesign

If that isn't working - then can you please try

LATEST

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble you are facing. I would like to know if the steps suggested above worked for you? If not, I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • The exact version of macOS and InDesign
  • Does InDesign run slow down while working on a specific document? If yes, could you please share that document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • Where are you saving the files (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System / External HDD)?
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.
  • Are you using TimeMachine? If yes, please try disabling it as multiple users have reported that TimeMachine has slowed down some apps while they were working.

Also,

Please try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/start-safe-boot-mode-mac.html) and check how it works there. It starts your system to perform certain checks and prevent third-party software/ services from automatically loading or opening.

I will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini
