alternate layouts editing

Hey guys,

question. i am doing research and i want to say there is a way to do this.

Lets say i make one layout, than make an alternate layout at a different screen size. Lets say 20-50 page layouts for each minimum all set and done.

Let say the client has text edits. 

How could i make edits in one layout, and have them apply in to the other layout(s)?

It would work IF you had used Edit > Place and Link, where the first layout contained the original but the alternate layouts had the Linked content. Outside of that, things slow down a bit!
