Hello,
I am using the latest versions of InDesign and Acrobat DC for Mac. I have added an audio file (MP3) to a file and set it up to start after page load. It does preview in the EPub preview and also plays when exported as an EPub. It DOES NOT work when exported to a pdf using the interactive settings or when publishing online.
In the pdf, a notice about Flash comes up (do you need flash to run audio files?). When right clicking and opening a new tab, the controls appear and then the audio runs.
In Pulish Online, a control box shows up, but does not work.
Thanks for any help with this!

Since the advent of PDF 2.0 and the abandonment of the Flash Player plugin* the "multimedia PDF" has a fantastic future, but for now it is better to use Acrobat Pro than InDesign:

* Yes, there was a Flash Player plugin, sometimes embedded and sometimes outsourced, in Acrobat Reader/Pro/Standard

PDF 2.0 has not been implemented by any vendors yet -- Dov Isaacs stated in a post on this forum a few months ago, that Adobe would next year, but that seems to have gone quiet since.

Which format you want use at the end? Publish online, ePub or .pdf.
yes, you are correct, the same audio file behaves differently. We can't troubleshoot all 3 since they are different formats with different limitations and capabilities. I which format is important to you?

Hi Jonathan,
My first priority would be to have an interactive pdf. Second would be to publish online. ePub isn't practical for this project.
Thanks,
Susan
