Hi,

I need to add cross referencing to an existing large document for a couple of specific phrases.

For example whenever the words 'Tomato Paste' appears in a specific paragraph style I want a page number appended, for example  "(see page xxx)". There are many instances of the phrase so I wish to automate the process.

Can anyone help please ?

Find+replace seems like probably your best bet, though it wouldn't be interactive. You could use MultiFindChangeByList.jsx. You could also look at these scripts: http://kasyan.ho.ua/indesign/hyperlink/x_references.html or in-tool's Quick Reference script: http://in-tools.com/products/scripts/

Otherwise, you'd have to delve into CrossReferenceFormats and CrossReferenceSources under the Document object for scripting.
