What is the recommended way to work with a small team of 3 people on a large InDesign book? When any of us works on the files locally, like in dropbox, all the paths to the linked resources have our username in them, like "Mac HD:Doug:Documents:The File.indd" etc. When Mary works on the same file, the links are all wrong, pointing to my HD. She has to update the ones she works on.
We are currently using pCloud drive which gives us a network drive that eliminates the path issue, but performance is terrible, since the files are in the cloud. It can take minutes to open the book file, or 1-3 minutes to open 5-10 files at the same time etc.
In the documentation for InDesign, I read somewhere that Adobe does not recommend working in any way except LOCALLY on your own hard drive. Well...how on earth is this possible with a team if files need to be shared? How are people working "locally" with files on their HD while also working with other team members?
The cloud network drive is functional, but so slow and buggy. What am I missing? After all these years, there is still no official way to work on files together?
If you store the Indesign file and its assets in your local Creative Cloud Files folder, the files will automatically sync to your Adobe Cloud account and from there you can invite other CC users to also sync the files.
