Hi, If you mean like MS Word can do natively, or with plugins from Zotero, Mandeley for academic type of production? The answer is no, out of the box. You might look for plugins. But I would recommend to write your thesis in Word with all the references using the proper style (like APA) and link that to your InDesign document. There is a old tutorial (641) InDesign - Easy Reference list and citation of scientific papers - CS5 Tutorial (Part 8) - YouTube but not really a silver bullet.
