Hello,
i need help with a file. I have multiple indesign files in a book panel:
My question is about the last two sections. the Bcell and the other studies.
this is what the Bcell page set up looks like, as you can see the bcell section end on the left side:
and this is what the other section looks like, as you can see this section starts on the right:
However, when i make a .pdf this is happens:
how do i fix this?
They want to view the document as spreads? That's what the inital view settings control.

Hey, Jonathan:
I think you are exporting as spreads. Try pages.
I always export as pages, but set the intial view to Two-up with a Cover Page.

Hi Jonathan,
there is no solution that gets this right automatically.
What you can do if you need that spread view in your exported PDF:
Do not export spreads from the book file.
Instead, export pages.
Then do a new InDesign document with facing pages and place the exported PDF pages from the book file with a script to the document pages. After that is done export spreads from that temp document.
For placing the PDF pages best use Scott Zanelli's script Multi Page Importer that currently is curated by Mike Edel here:

Hi Barb,
yes, good that you mention the view settings.
However, not all PDF viewers accept and honor the settings and with consecutive chapters, InDesign documents in fact, you will also be in trouble getting this right with Acrobat or Adobe Reader. Can remember another thread here in the forum where we discussed this.

I don't recall the previous thread, but I do mostly book work and have never had an issue with setting views. Uwe, if you find the thread, let me know.
My question is why would anyone care what the thumbnails look like in Acrobat? For text-heavy books, no one is using the thumbnails for navigation. They would either show bookmarks or nothing, right? What am I missing?

my theory:
reason this happens is because each indesign document has to have even number of spreads. if i add a blank after bcell section and make the single page for the glossary the last page of the further reading layout (before the glossary was in its own indesign file). it all works. i have spreads exported from indesign
